Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder - Winona Lauro Horowitz was born in Winona Minnesota. She was named by her parents in honor of the town in which she grew as a child. Michel Horowitz was her father and Cynthia Palmer, his mother was both an author and editors. Ryder's dad came from an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Her half-siblings are younger, Jubal and Sunyata. At the age of seven, Ryder was just seven years old, her family moved to Mendocino County California. The family didn't have electricity. Ryder, who loved reading aged 12, became a bookworm due to the fact that Ryder did not have access to television. When she turned twelve, Ryder joined the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. When she was 15years old, Ryder was offered her first acting job on the screen in Lucas. Ryder endured bullying while in high school. Ryder was hopeful that her work as an actor would be able to make a difference. However, it didn't occur. But she continued to pursue her dream. Ryder made her breakthrough through Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in the year 1988. Ryder was able to continue playing roles that were successful in a variety of films. In 1993, she was awarded an Academy Awards in the film The Age of Innocence.
