April Ross
April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball athletes to win medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman will compete with Ross at Tokyo for her third gold medal in the next few days. Ross is also hoping to win her first Olympic medal. In fact, at 39, it could be her last chance to do so. Her optimism is that she can achieve top honors. Ross said on NBC Boston that if they perform at their very best, and even play well, she believes the team could win a gold medal. Therefore, I'm hoping to have the chance too. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a sister. In Newport Harbor High School, she was a participant in many activities. As a prep-athlete she was also a participant in indoor volleyball and track. She was definitely an edge over the other players when it came to the second sport. As per her biography her high school days, she played volleyball as an outside hitter (middle blocker) and the setter (outside blocker). Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her the national Player in 1999. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her in volleyball. While Ross and Klineman have been doing their thing since the year 2017, Klineman was already a big-time participant on the beaches prior to their team. It's true that she's had numerous big wins and one partner was an all-star volleyball player. She teamed up along with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and she also served as Klineman's coach. Kessy was Ross's partner on the 2009 World Championships. In 2012, the duo were awarded silver medals at the London Olympic Games. The Misty Maytreanor legendary team as well as Kerri Jennings won the gold. Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor when she retired. Both went on to win the bronze beach volleyball trophy in the Rio Olympics 2016. They were joined by Walsh Jennings. Ross was a student athlete for USC Trojans before the start of her professional career. She was a player in high school, as well as years prior to hitting the beach professionally. This was an impressive career for Ross in the college level. In 2000, she was voted Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman Of The Year, and was also an All-American. Her Trojans made it to the Final Four. Her personal life was tense after a devastating loss during her sophomore year, yet was successful in achieving the All-American distinction. In her last two seasons within the team, she guided the Trojans up to the summit of the mountain by winning two consecutive national championships. As an individual, she established her place as a legend winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Unfortunately, Ross mother Margie never got to see Ross rise to the highest levels of beach volleyball stardom. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in 2001. Ross was still in the midst of being a USC sophomore. She had breast cancer. But she still keeps her parent close to his heart. In addition, Margie remains a source of encouragement for her on the beach and in life.
